    Happy February, Lethbridge! I want to begin by sharing some recent positive news on ambulances for our city and region.

  • Fire destroys vacant downtown building

    At approximately 2:15 a.m., Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services crews responded from four stations with 28 members to a structure fire in the 200 block of 5 Street South. Upon arrival, the vacant building was showing visible flames from the upper levels and crews quickly worked to extinguish the blaze.

  • New interpretive sign revisits pieces of Downtown history

    ​Downtown Lethbridge has a rich and storied history. With a diverse past of railways, coal mining, industry, commerce and residences – the area west of 5 Street South, between 3 Avenue South and Park Place Shopping Centre, may stand out more than others. In recognition of this assorted and unique collection of pastimes, the City of Lethbridge's Heart of Our City Committee, Historic Places Advisory Committee and the Lethbridge Historical Society have recently partnered to fund and produce a new historical interpretive sign.

  • Public Hearing - Land Use Amendment Bylaw 6399 - February 22, 2023 - March 21, 2023
    The purpose of this amendment is to allow for the development of four residential units designed to appear as a duplex with secondary suites.
  • Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls remembered with visual display at City Hall

    Nationally on February 14, walks are held throughout various cities in memory of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited people who have been lost or are missing. It's an opportunity for their loved ones to grieve, remember them and raise awareness of the disparity in the number of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited people who die nationally every year. 

  • Lethbridge adding two new ambulances into EMS system

    ​The City of Lethbridge and Alberta Health Services (AHS) are adding two additional ambulances starting in April. This will improve Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response times, keeping rural ambulances in their communities and ensuring people in the Lethbridge area get the care they need.

  • Lethbridge City Council supports Rapid Housing Initiatives

    ​Three local organizations could soon be in a position to help with affordable housing needs in the community thanks to the unanimous support of City Council. 

    Council conditionally approved up to $4.97 million in municipal funding requests in an effort to capitalize on the Federal Government's Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) program. The money could be used to leverage up to $38.89 million for the proposed projects. 

  • Cavendish Farms is the new title sponsor of Crossings Leisure Complex

    The City of Lethbridge is excited to announce Cavendish Farms as the new title sponsor for the Crossings Leisure Complex (formerly ATB Centre).
