Frequently Asked Questions:

Accordion Answer
How do I apply for a job posting?
We only accept online applications. The first time you apply for a position, you will need to create a candidate profile and your information will be saved. Attaching a resume is mandatory when applying to a job posting; we accept Microsoft word and PDF documents
How do I attach an updated resume or cover letter?
If the next time you apply for a job posting you want to add an updated resume or cover letter, you have to upload them in the "attach resume" and "upload additional attachments" sections of your candidate profile.
 What is Taleo?
We use Taleo to help with talent acquisition and the recruiting process.  Taleo is a cloud-based talent management software vendor. Taleo only stores aggregate data (this includes your first and last name and email address). You can delete your candidate profile whenever you see fit and your information is only stored for a year.
Can I apply for more than one job posting at a time?

We encourage you to apply to a job posting that meets your skills, education and professional experience.  Once you create your candidate profile on our online portal, it is easy to apply for multiple postings.

Do you accept general applications for employment?

We are unable to accept general resumes. The best way to be considered for a job posting is by submitting your application online for a posted position that meets your qualifications and experience.

The job posting I am interested in closed before I could submit my application, may I still apply?
We do not accept applications once the job posting closes. If you have questions about postings that have closed, please contact People & Culture.
What is the assessment and interview process?

Candidates whose qualifications and experience meet the job requirements may be contacted for an interview. Only candidates being considered for the job posting will be contacted.

The interview will be an opportunity for the candidate to learn more about the position and for the interviewers to learn more about the candidate's skills, experiences and past performance. Those selected to continue the recruitment process will be asked to provide references and a criminal record check.  Some positions will have additional requirements that will be listed on the job posting.  On average, once a posting has closed, the recruitment process takes about 4 – 6 weeks.

If you are selected for an interview, you will receive a call or e-mail from a People & Culture Representative or the hiring manager.

How often are job postings updated on the City of Lethbridge website?

We updated job postings on a regular basis – please check back often!  You can also set up a "job alert" online so that specific types of postings are automatically e-mailed to you.

Our seasonal opportunities are posted year-round. Please note that our spring hiring for outdoor positions usually begins in early March.
