Free Saturday Disposal (up to 250kgs) Program
The City of Lethbridge has decided to suspend the free Saturday Disposal Program due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. In keeping with Provincial and Federal recommendations for social distancing, to protect City employees and because of a large number of visitors that come to the Waste and Recycling Centre during this time, the suspension of the free Saturday program was deemed necessary.
This is a temporary measure put in place to protect the health of both residents and the staff operating the Waste and Recycling Centre. We appreciate your patience as we all work together during this unprecedented period.
What if I have waste that requires special handling?
Asbestos, sludge, sump waste, packing house materials and other items require special handling procedures. All special waste loads must be scheduled at least 24 hours prior to delivery with load sizes, container type and material type described. All loads require a City of Lethbridge manifest and need to be registered with the landfill operator by calling 403-320-7188. Special waste disposal is weather dependent and scheduled deliveries may need to be cancelled under certain weather conditions.
Where can I take business and commercial hazardous waste?
A processor can help your business safely dispose of hazardous waste. Search for "Hazardous Material handling" or "Waste Disposal Service" under you local public directory.
How can I open a landfill charge account?
Large volume business customers may qualify for a charge account.
