5 Street South temporary lane closures this week

As part of the Reimagine 5 Street South project, sewer inspections and survey work will be starting today and may cause minor disruptions for users of 5 Street South, between 1 Avenue and 6 Avenue. This work will help inform future decisions and construction planning.

From Monday, July 21, to Friday, July 25, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., crews are working at multiple locations along the corridor. To inspect the sewer system, crews need to access manholes located in the roadway. Temporary lane and/or parking closures are expected to last two hours at each site, reopening as the work progresses.

Parking restrictions will be implemented the night before each closure to prevent vehicles from being trapped within the work zones. Once work at each location is complete, parking will be reopened for public use.

Please be aware that this work may generate some additional noise. All operations will be conducted within permitted hours to comply with the noise bylaw.

To ensure the safety of both the public and crews we ask all road users to follow posted traffic control signage and respect short-term no-parking notices to help crews complete the work efficiently and safely.
