Cheers for five years; Happy Birthday 311!

The City of Lethbridge is marking 3-1-1 day (March 11) by celebrating five wonderful years of Lethbridge 311!

Since launching in 2019, Lethbridge 311 has taken 539,882 calls from the community, averaging out to almost 9,000 a month. The team has also submitted more than 510,000 requests for information or services from City departments.

The friendly customer service-focused department has also answered calls and chats from residents seeking information about more than just regular City business.

“We’re always here to provide residents and visitors information about City facilities, programs and services,” says Cathy Gejdos, General Manager of Customer Service & 311. “But we also get to hear from residents who are looking to recognize someone within the community for acts of kindness or just wanting to thank City workers too. Those calls leave you with an extra big smile and feeling grateful to be part of the community we support and serve.”

In 2023, Lethbridge 311 also saw the introduction of two new functions, 311 live-chat and a new inquiry resolution process. These functions have helped to connect residents with the information they need, as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“Our team answers more than 100,000 calls per year in addition to assisting residents in-person at City Hall and via chat online,” says Gejdos. “It has been our pleasure to serve the community for the past five years and we look forward to your next call!

Residents are encouraged to contact 311 for the most up-to-date information regarding City services, ongoing events and service availability. Service requests can also be made through 311 with everything from pothole repairs, graffiti removals to getting that old couch picked up and sent to the landfill.

Live agents are available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an after-hours trouble line available for urgent requests like power outages and watermain breaks.
