Lethbridge Transit introduces new fare collection system

Lethbridge Transit is excited to introduce new self-serve options with the launch of the upgraded fare collection system. Now customers can buy bus fare anytime, anywhere through the LT Fare mobile app, or by accessing the LTFare.ca web portal. Tap-to-pay technology for single fare on the bus (LT Fare card, debit card, credit card, or mobile phone/device) is now available, and paying for bus fare with cash is still an option.

Bus fares are not changing and customers can still use their existing Breeze card but will need to upgrade to the LT Fare card or app by October 1, 2023. The LT Fare card is available at Lethbridge Transit, City Hall, or the Park and Ride, as well as vendor locations. LT Fare cards will be free with the purchase of rides or a pass between July 10 and October 1, 2023. For balance transfers please visit our City of Lethbridge locations.

As with all Access-A-Ride (AAR) cards, the initial AAR LT Fare Card and all balance transfers are performed exclusively at Lethbridge Transit Reception, 619 4 Avenue North. Once AAR customers have their card it can be loaded at any location or by using the App or the web portal. With the new fare collection changes, AAR Operators will continue to accept payment envelopes until October 1, 2023.

Customers are encouraged to register their card at LTFare.ca. If your card is lost/stolen and was registered, the balance or stored value (rides/passes/cash) is transferrable to a new card at any City of Lethbridge location mentioned above.

The Ride-On-Demand (ROD) service, implemented during the cityLINK pilot project was a free service during the pilot and with the upgraded fare collection system Lethbridge Transit will collect payment effective October 1, 2023. ROD is part of the Lethbridge Transit network. Transfers will continue to be used when going from ROD to fixed route and when going from fixed route to ROD.

Customers will be able to use any of the payment methods including new self-serve options.
