2026 Property Tax Notices being mailed out this week

This year’s Property Tax Notices are in the mail.

Taxes are due by June 30, 2026, and a seven per cent penalty will be applied to all unpaid 2026 tax balances as of July 1. Late payment penalties will not be waived for those who did not receive their Tax Notice.

If property owners have not received their 2026 Tax Notice by June 8, they can utilize

MyCity, at Lethbridge.ca/MyCity, to register their property using the roll number and access code provided on the Property Assessment Notice sent in January.

Once registered, a copy of your tax notice can be reprinted. Alternatively, individuals can contact 311 (or 403-320-3111, if outside of Lethbridge), or email tax@lethbridge.ca for assistance.  For those who have recently acquired property in the City of Lethbridge and have not received their tax notice, proof of ownership will be required when contacting 311 or visiting City Hall for a copy.

Various payment options are available:

  • In person: cash, cheques and debit card payments are accepted on the main floor at City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Credit cards are not accepted at City Hall
  • Directly at your bank. The City will accept the teller stamp date as the date of payment received
  • Online or telephone banking using the 13-digit roll number located in the top right of the tax notice. Please select “Lethbridge (City of) Taxes”
  • Cheque or money order can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 910 - 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 0P6
  • Please do not send cash by mail
  • The City has a secure mailbox located at the front doors of City Hall or the drive-through drop box in the traffic circle behind City Hall
  • Online with a credit card through lethbridge.ca/pay. For a 2.25 per cent fee, property and Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) taxes can be paid using MasterCard or Visa. Allow one to two business days for processing.

Please do not send E-transfers. They are not accepted as a method of payment.

Property owners can also opt for the monthly Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP), offering a one per cent monthly discount on the credit balance. Enrollment for 2027 is available for those whose 2026 taxes are paid in full. Property owners are encouraged to sign up for TIPP before July 20 to start at the beginning of the TIPP cycle.

City Council approved the 2026 Municipal Property Tax Bylaw on April 28, with a direct tie-in to the 2023-2026 City of Lethbridge Operating Budget, approved in November 2022.
