A community celebration of Indigenous Peoples

The City of Lethbridge is preparing for a meaningful day of culture, connection and community this National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD). Join us at the downtown branch of the Lethbridge Public Library on Sunday, June 21, from 12 – 5 p.m.

A welcoming ceremony will open the event, followed by a community feast and many other activities, including:

  • Live entertainment with local Indigenous artists
  • Dance performances at 12:45 and 2:30 p.m.
  • Craft vendors
  • Food trucks
  • Children’s activities

To view the full schedule and vendor lineup, follow Reconciliation Lethbridge on Facebook. To accommodate this event, the 800 block of 5 Avenue South will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 21.

You can also head to Fort Whoop-Up beginning at 10 a.m. for activities including:

  • Blackfoot hand games demonstration and participation
  • Archery demonstration and history
  • Hide tanning and Indigenous material culture
  • Story-telling and Blackfoot language learning
  • Medicinal uses of wildflowers

Wagon rides have also returned this year. The first ride is at 11 a.m. with the final ride at 4 p.m.
