City's annual intersection and concrete improvement program continues next week
A number of intersections and roadways in Lethbridge are set for safety, mobility and efficiency upgrades this summer.
Each year, the City of Lethbridge’s annual intersection improvement program works to maintain infrastructure and increase safety. This is in alignment with the City’s Transportation Master Plan and Transportation Safety Plan.
The intersections and roadways impacted by this year’s program are:
- Jerry Potts Boulevard West between Chilcotin Road and Red Crow Boulevard (August construction)
- Red Crow Boulevard West between Assiniboia Road and Ojibwa Place (August construction)
- Mildred Dobbs Boulevard North just north of Marie Van Haarlem Crescent (August construction)
- Scenic Drive North and 40 Avenue North (September construction)
- 18 Avenue North and 18 Street North (September construction)
- Uplands Boulevard North near the southeast corner of Legacy Park (September construction)
More details regarding intersection improvements to each area can be found on the project webpage.
Concrete repairs and sidewalk improvements are also being made this summer. Most improvements are minor fixes to curbs, gutters and sidewalk. Large sections of sidewalk repairs include:
- South side of 5 Avenue North from 12 Street North to 13 Street North
- East side of 8 Street South from 3 Avenue to 4 Avenue South
- Both sides of Lakhota Crescent West, east of Lakhota Road West
- Both sides of Assiniboia Road West from Assiniboia Way West to Chilcotin Road West
These improvements are part of the 2022-2031 Capital Improvement Program. Construction updates, such as scheduled road and sidewalk closures, will be available on the City’s WebMap.
To keep construction crews and other road users safe, motorists are asked to please follow detours and all posted signage.
