Construction Update: Columbia Boulevard West

Starting Tuesday, September 8, there will be further traffic impacts on Columbia Boulevard West. This construction is part of the 2026 Intersection Improvement program, which includes installing a new flashing beacon pedestrian signal, adding curb extensions and upgrading the street lighting.  

Motorists should plan for periodic lane reductions, temporary traffic signals and changing traffic patterns while work is underway: 

September 8 to 12  

• Traffic reduced to a single lane, with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. 
• Crews will remove pavement and install curbs on the south side of the road. 

September 14 to 18 

• Two-way traffic restored with reduced lane widths. 
• Road base work and initial paving will take place on the south side of the road. 

September 18 to 23 

• Traffic reduced to a single lane, with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. 
• Crews will complete road base work on the north side of the road. 

As construction progresses toward completion, residents can expect intermittent traffic disruptions and changes to sidewalk and pedestrian access in late September and early October. Some short-term road closures may be required to accommodate paving activities, followed by sidewalk, landscaping and other finishing work. Updates will be provided as schedules and traffic impacts are confirmed. 

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are reminded to obey all posted signage and traffic control devices when travelling through the construction area. Construction schedules are weather dependent and may change as work progresses.
