Deadline extended to apply to be a 2023 Municipal Census taker

How many people live in Lethbridge? Are we the third largest city in Alberta?

Help us answer these questions and more by becoming a census taker for the City of Lethbridge's 2023 Municipal Census.

Recruitment for census takers is now underway for the next Municipal Census, which will take place in April. The local census helps provide an accurate count of the number of people living in the city. This is important information to gather as it provides planning data used for such needs as infrastructure and schools.

Applications are available online at www.lethbridge.ca/census and will be accepted until Friday, March 3, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.

Individuals are needed for a three-week period beginning April 1, 2023, with flexible work hours. Census takers will be responsible for going to households and dropping off census doorhangers, with individual codes, for residents to enter the census data online. Takers will also need to follow up on those households that have not completed the census online.

We're looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Lethbridge resident
  • 18 years or older
  • Enjoy walking
  • Can operate a smart phone or tablet
  • Have an active email account (all communications will be done by email)

Successful applicants will be notified by mid-March. There is a two-hour mandatory training which takes place in late March. Census takers will be paid $2.50 per household they reach. There is also compensation for the use of your device and for the training.

The most recent Municipal Census was taken in 2019. More information on the 2023 Municipal Census will be issued closer to April.
