Dual turning lane coming to Mayor Magrath Drive and 20 Avenue South

Starting tomorrow, October 21, work will begin at the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive South and 20 Avenue South. This construction is part of the 2026 Intersection Improvement program. This project will add a second left-turn lane on southbound Mayor Magrath Drive South onto eastbound 20 Avenue South.

During construction, southbound traffic on Mayor Magrath Drive South will not be permitted to turn left onto 20 Avenue South. Inside lane closures in both directions will also be in place on Mayor Magrath Drive South to accommodate the work.

The addition of a second left-turn lane will improve intersection efficiency and reduce congestion by increasing capacity for southbound motorists turning east onto 20 Avenue South. The upgrade is intended to support smoother traffic flow and improve overall operations at this busy intersection.

Construction is expected to be completed by 8 p.m. on October 22, weather permitting.

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are reminded to obey all posted signage when travelling through the construction area. Message boards will be placed in advance of the work zone to notify motorists of upcoming construction and encourage the use of alternate routes.
