Earthwork in river valley to impact eastbound motorists on and pedestrians near Whoop-Up Drive

Staging for an electrical project will impact some eastbound commuters and river valley pedestrians for the next month.

Starting tomorrow, September 2, a small stretch of the outside eastbound lane of Whoop-Up Drive will close intermittently. The single-lane closure will be in effect daily, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A section of Coal Banks Trail, west of the Oldman River, will also be closed for the duration of the project. 

This is to accommodate the relocation of electrical conduits that run underneath the Whoop-Up Drive bridge. Crews will build a temporary access road, just off eastbound Whoop-Up Drive, to allow equipment and personnel access to the river valley.

This project phase is expected to be completed by September 30, weather permitting.

Please follow posted detours and signage, and drive with caution in construction zones. We appreciate your patience as this work is completed.
