Fire damages northside fourplex unit

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a house fire in the 500 block of 9 Avenue North on Saturday, August 9. 

Crews from four stations were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to a reported fire in a unit of a fourplex. On arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single unit. 

The occupants had evacuated safely, along with residents of the other units. A total of 23 firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the building. 

No injuries were reported. Damage to the affected unit is severe. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Residents are reminded to test their smoke alarms every month to ensure they are in proper working order.
