Firefighters contain apartment fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to an apartment fire in the Ashgrove Road South area on Friday, August 1. 

Crews from five stations, including 28 firefighters, were dispatched at approximately 9 a.m. On arrival, first-in crews encountered smoke and flames on the third floor of the building. 

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and contained it to the room of origin. No injuries were reported. 

Damage is estimated at $500,000. An investigation concluded that the fire was accidental.

Residents are reminded to test their smoke alarms every month to ensure they are in proper working order.
