One tiny chip means giant peace of mind for cat owners.

Join Community Animal Services for the inaugural cat microchipping clinic, supported by Zen Cat Clinic. The event takes place Saturday, July 26, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Lethbridge Animal Shelter.

And we’re not forgetting about canines! For just $30, cat and dog owners can get their pet microchipped. The price also includes a voluntary cat licence with the City of Lethbridge.

Microchips are a safe, reliable way to help reunite lost pets with their families. If your pet ever strays far from home, a chip makes a happy return much more likely.

Depending on community interest, future clinics may follow.

The program was first explored during the Animal Bylaw Review. The new Animal Care and Control Bylaw took effect May 1, 2025, and includes important updates for cat lovers:

  • Households can have up to six cats. Cats owned before May 1, 2025, are exempt and the City will only step in for serious hoarding or nuisance complaints.
  • Keep your cat friendly and respectful - no harming people, pets or property.

Microchipping ensures your furry loved ones are never truly lost, even in moments of unpredictability.
