Grassfire quickly contained in River Valley

Crews responded to a grassfire in the River Valley

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a grass fire in the River Valley near Scenic Drive and 2 Avenue South on Wednesday, July 9.

At approximately 5 p.m., crews from four stations were dispatched to a fire burning uphill through dry grass and vegetation. Thanks to the fast actions of 9-1-1 callers and a coordinated response by fire crews, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from reaching nearby homes.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.

With hot, dry conditions continuing, residents are reminded that a fire ban remains in effect in the River Valley. Extra caution is advised, especially when disposing of smoking materials, which can easily ignite dry vegetation and lead to fast-moving fires.
