Hiring season is now open; City looking for seasonal staff

Are you looking to work outside in fresh air, with a great group of people and with the summer sun on your face? We're hiring!

Seasonal positions are the perfect opportunity for students looking to earn some money during their spring and summer break or for anyone looking for a change of scenery over the warmer months.

"Every spring we look to hire approximately 50 people to join our public operations teams," says City of Lethbridge People & Culture business partner, Aurelie Lajus, Jr. "You get to work outside in the gorgeous weather with a team of great people, serving your community and helping to make Lethbridge a better place to live."

Positions available with the City include labourers in Parks & Cemeteries, Transportation Operations, Water & Wastewater teams. There are also positions available with the Helen Schuler Nature Centre, Galt Museum and Archives and Waste & Recycling teams.

"What we look for in a team member is someone who is reliable, responsible, enjoys working outside and someone who brings their best to work every day," says James Nicholls, Waste & Recycling Operations Manager. "You don't necessarily have to have prior field experience to work with us. Ultimately, we want to work with people who understand and are committed to gaining the trust and respect of our community."

Anyone wanting to apply must have:

  • A valid unrestricted class 5 operator's license with no more than 5 demerit points;
  • A current driver's abstract;
  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Be able to work shifts and weekends as assigned.

A full list of available positions with the City is available at Lethbridge.ca/careers. Seasonal positions are currently posted with more being added to the careers page in the coming weeks.
