Holiday triple header: what’s open & what’s not

The holiday season is almost upon us, and that means a trifecta of statutory holidays!

• Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day)
• Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day)
• Thursday, January 1 (New Year’s Day)

The trio of stat holidays means the City will have service level changes.

Lethbridge 311

The Lethbridge 311 contact centre will be closed on all three stat holidays.

For urgent issues, a 24-hour trouble line is available by calling 311.

City Hall

City Hall will be closed from Monday, December 29, to Thursday, January 1. It will reopen on Friday, January 2, to accept payments.

Waste and Recycling

The Waste and Recycling Centre will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and Thursday, January 1. It will be open Friday, December 26.

Curbside collections scheduled for Thursday, December 25, are moved to Saturday, December 27. Curbside collections scheduled for Thursday, January 1, are moved to Saturday, January 3.

Community Animal Services

Community Animal Services and the Lethbridge Animal Shelter will be closed on all three stat holidays.

The public can access services on the website at any time, including dog license payments, appointment booking, online complaint reporting and searching a list of found pets impounded at the shelter.

Transit Service

There is no transit service on Thursday, December 25.

Ride on Demand and Fixed Route transit schedules will run on holiday service (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.) on Friday, December 26, and Thursday, January 1.

The Lethbridge Transit customer service desk at City Centre Station will be closed on all three stat holidays.

Access-A-Ride

Access-A-Ride (AAR) will run pre-scheduled trips on holiday service hours (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.) on all three stat holidays. The AAR booking line will be closed on all three stat holidays, but trips can be booked on the app. Find more information on the Lethbridge Transit website.

Galt Museum & Archives/Fort Whoop-Up

The Galt Museum will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, and all three stat holidays.

Fort Whoop-Up is closed for the season.

Helen Schuler Nature Centre

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be closed on all three stat holidays.

Extended hours (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) run from December 23 – January 3.

Lethbridge Public Library

Both branches of the Lethbridge Public Library will be closed on all three stat holidays.

The branches will also close early (4 p.m.) on Wednesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 31.
