Information for local Remembrance Day ceremonies

Remembrance Day 2026 in Lethbridge will look a little different this year, as the local committee has again staggered start times for the two primary ceremonies on November 11.

Matthew McHugh, with the Lethbridge Remembrance Day Committee, presented at Tuesday’s Community Issues Committee (CIC) meeting to share details of events planned ahead of and on November 11.

On Wednesday, November 11, the Lethbridge Remembrance Day Committee has two ceremonies at different times and locations:

• Lethbridge Cenotaph (outside) 910 4 Avenue South (re-named Veterans Avenue for this week). Please arrive by 10:45 a.m. for the 11 a.m. vigil ceremony. This is an outdoor event with the 20th Independent Field Battery. There is no seating. Flyovers from the C-17 Globemaster (RCAF) and Harvard IV (Geoffrey Brayne) are scheduled, operational and weather-dependent. There will be a street closure on 4 Avenue (Veterans Avenue) between 9 Street and 11 Street throughout the morning of November 11.
• Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre (101 Exhibition Way South). Please arrive by 11:45 a.m. for a 12 p.m. vigil ceremony. This is an indoor event with Legion members, veterans, first responders and dignitaries. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and there will be a livestream of the 11 a.m. event from the Cenotaph.

The Lethbridge Military Museum will be open with free admission on Wednesday, November 11, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located at the Vimy Ridge Armoury near Lethbridge Airport.

Additionally, at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 is hosting a special Poppy Flag Day and Afghanistan Monument Commemoration Ceremony at the Lethbridge Cenotaph near City Hall. This year's ceremony will recognize the Afghanistan monument recently added to the Cenotaph, honouring the service and sacrifice of the Canadian Armed Forces members who served in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014.
