Mayor's Statement on Provincial decision to halt EMS procurement

On June 22, the Mayors of the seven integrated Fire & EMS communities in Alberta received correspondence from Adriana LaGrange, our new Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services (HSHS).

Minister LaGrange informed us that effective immediately, she has directed Emergency Health Services (EHS) to halt the current ground ambulance procurement approach and work with us to develop a more effective path forward.

Given how important EMS is to our community, we are grateful the Province is taking a second look at how best to move forward.

We know there is still a lot of work ahead, but we are optimistic and look forward to collaborating on next steps.

I also want to thank the hardworking men and women of Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services who show up to work every day to provide these life-saving services our residents rely on. Your dedication and professionalism helps keep our community safe and healthy.
