Paving the way to a better path

A significant improvement project is ready to begin along Exhibition Way South.

Beginning Monday, July 14, the south end of the area will see a transformation that includes the removal of the aging timber retaining wall and pathway. That is followed by enhancements to the surrounding landscape and infrastructure.

The project includes several activities:

  • Demolition of the old timber retaining wall and adjacent pathway
  • Regrading of the earth berm behind the wall, which will no longer require a retaining wall
  • Installation of a brand-new chain link fence
  • Construction of a wider, smoother asphalt pathway for improved accessibility

During construction, the existing pathway will be closed to public access. A pedestrian detour will guide people safely around the work zone.

Alternating lane closures will occur along Exhibition Way South during construction. However, two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.

And don’t worry: the upgraded pathway will be ready in time for Whoop-Up Days! Weather permitting, the project should wrap up by August 15.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this temporary speed bump!

This project can be viewed on the City of Lethbridge’s WebMAP.
