Public art, public voices: engage in the Public Art Master Plan
We’re painting the next chapter of Lethbridge’s Public Art story.
This builds on the original 2012 plan to reimagine how public art can enrich civic life through inclusion, placemaking and cultural vibrancy. A lot has changed in 13 years, and this refresh aims to capture that growth and evolution across the city.

An online survey is now live. It will help shape the future of public spaces and creativity in our city, in a way that reflects our shared values, cultures and hopes for the future.
“As Lethbridge keeps growing and changing, so should the ways we support and celebrate our community,” says Jillian Bracken, Community Arts and Culture Manager. “This updated Public Art Master Plan is about capturing who we are today and where we’re headed. And that means listening to the people who live here.”
Artists play a key role in shaping the updated Master Plan. This summer, local artists are hosting fun, creative events where residents can share ideas and help shape the new Master Plan. Activities like bike tours, visioning walls, Indigenous dancing and storytelling will highlight the many voices and stories that make our city special.
“Studio B is excited to help gather feedback for this Master Plan,” says artist Aaron Hagan. “As a group who feels the arts are an integral component of a healthy community, it is important for us to capture as many perspectives as possible. The Master Plan is a foundational document that will be a template for public art in Lethbridge for years to come."
“It’s a great way to bridge local artists and the City of Lethbridge,” says artist Daniel J. Perryman. “It draws on artists’ ability to creatively reflect the experiences and stories of citizens through public art and placemaking. I joined this project because I’m fascinated by storytelling - individual and collective - and believe our evolving city should be mirrored in its public spaces. This project offers exactly that.”
These activations are complemented by a Community Discussion Toolkit. It offers simple, flexible ways to spark meaningful conversations about Lethbridge’s cultural identity. It helps people share their ideas for public art with anyone, anywhere, so every voice can help shape Lethbridge’s creative future.
