The City of Lethbridge and Economic Development Lethbridge are excited to launch Screen Lethbridge. The new initiative puts the city on the map for creative arts. It also makes the filming process clear, accessible and filmmaker-friendly.

"Screen Lethbridge is part of our Creative Industries program, which supports the growth of film and TV, video game development and E-sports,” says Brock Skretting, Creative Industries Director at Economic Development Lethbridge. “Our collaboration with the City of Lethbridge will strengthen our relationship and drive economic growth.”

This launch builds on the momentum of southern Alberta’s booming film scene. Big-name shows like Ghostbusters: Afterlife and HBO’s The Last of Us have turned local towns into movie sets. Now, Lethbridge is ready to shine - bringing in jobs, boosting tourism and showing off its creative energy.

“Screen Lethbridge gives the city a real chance to join the national and international film and television scene,” says Nick Bohle, CEO and Founder of Lethbridge-based HatChap Productions. “As a filmmaker and actor with Lethbridge roots, this launch is very encouraging. It shows that our community values the film and television industry, its professionals and our emerging creators. Today makes me hopeful that the future of filmmaking in Lethbridge is bright!”

Screen Lethbridge supports everything from large-scale productions to grassroots filmmaking. It encourages short films, features films, episodic television and more. As Lethbridge’s arts scene continues to grow, this initiative adds a powerful new chapter to its creative story.
