Reconciliation Week in Lethbridge offers several opportunities to come together, learn and reflect as a community.
Honouring Traditions Pow Wow Run/Walk
Kinsmen Shelter Area (Henderson Lake Park)
September 20, 10 a.m.
This 5K and 2K Run/Walk celebrates Indigenous culture, connection and community. The 5K route offers a scenic route around Henderson Lake, while the 2K is a more family-friendly route for all ages and abilities. The 5K starts at 10 a.m. while the 2K crowd is off at 10:05 a.m. Registration and more information can be found here: https://racepro.ca/powwowrun/.
Opening Ceremonies
Lethbridge City Hall
September 21, 10 a.m.
The official kick-off event will feature a traditional blessing and welcome messages from Indigenous Elders and community leaders.
Appreciation vs Appropriation
Main Branch, Library Public Library
September 23, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
This engaging and thought-provoking session explores the difference between appreciation and appropriation. Presenter Shelley Kirkvold also discusses how we can all play a part in building a culturally respectful community. Please register by emailing echo.nowak@lethbridge.ca.
Wellness Conference

September 25, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This all-day event features several topics, including:
- why reconciliation matters
- supporting children through culture and connection
- working with Elders (protocols and respect)

Buffalo Spirit Games
Nicholas Sheran Park
September 30, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This inaugural event takes place on Orange Shirt Day. Hosted by Lethbridge Sport Council, the day is rooted in Blackfoot culture, connection and reconciliation. It will feature:
- traditional games
- cultural activities
- storytelling
- food
- lacrosse
- running events
Whether you're taking part in familiar activities or exploring something new, everyone is encouraged to join, connect and learn together.
Community Events
The Lethbridge Public Library is hosting the fourth annual Truth and Reconciliation Day Walk on Sunday, September 27. The walk begins at 11 a.m. It goes from the main branch to Galt Gardens, then back to the library.

The City of Lethbridge will observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, and will follow statutory holiday hours of operation.
