Ride-On-Demand and fare collection changes begin October 1

Starting October 1, the Ride-On-Demand (ROD) service will require payment and Breeze cards will need to be changed to the LT Fare card or app.

The ROD service was implemented during the cityLINK pilot project and was a free service during the pilot period. With the upgraded fare collection system that launched in July, Transit will now collect payment for this service.

ROD is part of the Lethbridge Transit network. Transfers will continue to be used when going from ROD to fixed route and when going from fixed route to ROD.

Lethbridge Transit customers are also reminded that existing Breeze cards will no longer be accepted after October 1, and to change to the LT Fare card or app.

The LT Fare card is available at City Hall, or the Park ‘n’ Ride, as well as vendor locations. LT Fare cards will be free with the purchase of rides or a pass until October 1, 2023. Starting October 2, the LT Farecard will cost $5. Customers transferring their balance off a Breeze card to a new LT Fare card will still receive a new card. For balance transfers please visit our City of Lethbridge locations.

Transit customers can buy bus fare anytime, anywhere through the LT Fare mobile app, or by accessing the LTFare.ca web portal. Tap-to-pay technology for single fare on the bus (LT Fare card, debit card, credit card, or mobile phone/device) is available, and paying for bus fare with cash is still an option.

Customers are encouraged to register their card at LTFare.ca. If your card is lost/stolen and was registered, the balance or stored value (rides/passes/cash) is transferrable to a new card at any City of Lethbridge location mentioned above.

Customers will be able to use any of the payment methods including new self-serve options.

Additionally, as a reminder, the Lethbridge Transit office located at 619 4 Avenue North will be closed to the public as of Friday, September 29. Going forward you can visit the Lethbridge Park ‘n’ Ride or City Hall for transit customer service.
