River Valley fire ban lifted

River Valley fire ban lifted in the City of Lethbridge

The River Valley Fire Ban in Lethbridge has been lifted, effective immediately.

Recent precipitation and cooler temperatures have reduced the fire risk in the River Valley. Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services will continue to monitor weather and wind conditions. Fire restrictions may be reinstated if conditions become hot, dry and windy again.

Residents and visitors are reminded that conditions can change quickly. Please continue to use caution when having any outdoor fire.

When having a recreational fire:

  • Use clean, dry wood only
  • Keep fires small and supervised at all times
  • Use approved fire pits only
  • Keep water or another way to extinguish the fire nearby
  • Make sure the fire is completely out before leaving
  • Do not have a fire when winds are gusting at or above 30 km/h

Smoking materials should be fully extinguished and disposed of safely. Even a small spark can ignite dry grass or brush.
