Several parking stalls being added to 6 Street Downtown

Starting today, April 29, there will be a series of partial and full road closures on 6 Street South, between 5 Avenue and 4 Avenue, to allow for the addition of new on-street parking stalls.

Crews will first remove the concrete pad, that had previously been used for transit bus passengers, on the east side of 6 Street just south of 4 Avenue. They will then re-pave the area for up to eight new parking stalls.

The work is anticipated to be completed by Tuesday, May 6, weather permitting.

Local access will be permitted for the businesses throughout and letters were delivered, alerting them to the work.

Motorists can anticipate the following impacts:

  • April 29 to May 2: Partial closure northbound, with through traffic still allowed
  • May 2: Brief full closure of the road, then back to partial closure
  • May 2 to May 5: partial closure northbound, with through traffic still allowed
  • May 5: Full closure on 6 Street between 5 Avenue and 4 Avenue while paving is underway, then back to partial closure
  • May 6: Road fully re-open

Stay safe, follow signs and reduce speed

Please maintain safe distance from all excavated areas and machinery while work is in progress. As crews and contractors work to upgrade and maintain the streets and roads, motorists are asked to slow down and pay attention to signage to keep crews and themselves safe.
