Sidewalk renewal on 8 Street South begins next week

The sidewalk on the east side of 8 Street South, between 3 Avenue and 4 Avenue is getting upgraded, with an anticipated starting date of Monday, August 25, 2025. Pedestrians, business patrons, and visitors to the area are advised to be aware of detours and construction activities. This project is part of the City’s annual concrete renewal program.  

The concrete work is expected to be completed within 2 – 3 weeks. Affected business access will be maintained for the duration of the work with ramps and pedestrian detours provided. Construction closures will impact parking on the east side of this 8 Street South block. 

Another concrete renewal project will be completed within the same timeframe on the southeast corner of 6 Street South and 5 Avenue South. Downtown businesses and visitors may see equipment moving between these two locations, and a minor sidewalk closure at that corner.
