Significant damage after overnight fire on McGill Blvd

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) responded to a residential structure fire on McGill Boulevard West this morning at 12:30 a.m. Crews from four stations were dispatched after a 9-1-1 call reported a fire on the second floor.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames venting from a second-storey window. Crews brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring homes.

The residence sustained severe fire and smoke damage throughout. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

LFES reminds residents to test their smoke alarms every month. Working smoke alarms provide an early warning that can save lives.
