Spring run-off impacts taste & odour to City’s water

The City of Lethbridge wants to assure residents their water is safe to drink while noting they may notice a different flavour and smell over the next few weeks.

Residents may notice an off-smelling odour or taste coming from their residential water outlets for the next few weeks. The City’s water treatment plant has recently had to increase Chlorine dosages to ensure proper treatment due to the spring run-off. Water is safe for consumption while this treatment is occurring and can be used as normal.

As this treatment takes effect, the temporary taste and odour of the water will clear up and return to normal in the coming weeks.
