Traffic signals coming to 5 Avenue and 6 Street South

Starting tomorrow, September 22, work will begin at the intersection of 5 Avenue South and 6 Street South. This construction is part of the 2026 Intersection Improvement program, which includes installing new traffic signals and curb extensions.  

The addition of traffic signals and curb extensions will help improve safety and mobility for all roadway users. The curb extensions will help increase pedestrian visibility and reduce crossing distances, while the new traffic signals will support the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians and vehicles through the intersection.  

Construction is expected to be completed by October 16, weather permitting.  

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are reminded to obey all posted signage when travelling through the construction area.
