'Tree-mendous' youth group needed for annual festive fundraiser

The City of Lethbridge is searching for a youth group to lead this year’s Christmas Tree Collection Program.

For the past 30 years, this collaboration has raised funds for local youth groups while helping residents dispose of trees and divert them from the landfill. Recycled trees get mulched or composted for future use in our parks or during giveaway events.

What’s the job?

  • A one-day blitz across Lethbridge to collect trees on January 10, 2026
  • A smaller sweep of the city for missed collections on January 17, 2026
  • Deliver trees to designated drop-off sites (as this is a city-wide initiative, there will be multiple locations for convenience)

What’s in it for you?

  • An honorarium ($10,000) for a successful program
  • Loads of holiday pride for helping the community and environment

Interested youth groups (organizations whose membership is 18 years or under) can submit their proposal by December 1. Proposals must include three examples of previous successful fundraising events or other volunteer experience. To allow equal opportunity for youth groups of all sizes, smaller groups who might not meet requirements on their own are encouraged to collaborate with others and apply together as a single group.
