Two fires in north Lethbridge under investigation
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a pair of early morning fires this week in north Lethbridge.
Around 5 a.m. on Monday, June 9, crews from four stations were dispatched to the 200 block of 13 Street North for reports of a fire behind a strip mall. On arrival, firefighters found flames from two garbage bins spreading rapidly up the exterior wall of two commercial units. Crews quickly knocked down the fire using a hose line, preventing it from entering the building. Damage is estimated at $4,000. No injuries were reported.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, fire crews from four stations responded to a second fire in the 200 block of 13 Street North, involving a residential property. A police patrol in the area spotted the fire and contacted emergency services. On arrival, crews found flames advancing along the outside of a home. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. Damage is estimated at $5,000. No injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
Residents and property owners are reminded to keep garbage bins away from buildings and report any suspicious activity.
