Vroom-vroom! Big Truck Petting Zoo returns May 23
It’s back! The Big Truck Petting Zoo takes place Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Lethbridge Public Library Crossings Branch. Attendance is free and open for all ages.
Once upon a time, on a warm weekend in May, a family in Lethbridge wanted to get out and play.
They talked about riding their bikes or walking in the park, but none of their ideas seemed to light a spark.
That was until the mother recalled a special event where all could be involved.
“I’ve got it,” she shouted to her kids, and their neighbours, too. “Let’s all go to the Big Truck Petting Zoo!”

“Big Truck Petting Zoo? That sounds fun!” the girl rejoiced.
“I’m not sure… What if it’s scary?” her brother nervously voiced.
“Don’t worry,” said their mother. “There’s no need for alarm. The trucks are all gentle, like baby goats on a farm.”
So, they hopped on the bus and made their way down to the Library’s Crossings Branch on the west side of town.
As they pulled up, it quickly became clear: this day would be fun and full of excitement and cheer.
“Over here!” the girl yelled to her brother. “This fire truck has more lights than a Christmas tree!”
“No, over here!” her brother yelled back. “There’s a street sweeper, and a great big Zamboni!”
Everywhere they looked, they found themselves gazing. From diggers and dozers to graders and loaders, this unusual petting zoo was simply amazing.
“I hope this day never ends,” blurted the boy.
“I can’t wait to tell all my friends,” said his sister, with joy.
Let this short tale be a reminder to you: don't miss out on this year's Big Truck Petting Zoo!
