Commemorating victims of workplace tragedies on the National Day of Mourning April 28
Marked annually in Canada on April 28, the National Day of Mourning serves to remember workers who have been injured, made ill, or lost their lives on the job. It reminds us of the importance of ensuring everyone gets home safely.

This day recognizes those affected by work-related incidents. It provides the opportunity to commemorate coworkers, friends and family who have been affected by workplace tragedies and renews our commitment to preventing workplace injuries or fatalities.
In observance of the National Day of Mourning, the City of Lethbridge will host its annual memorial ceremony at the CUPE 70 Workers Memorial Site in Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. Attendance is open to the public.
The National Day of Mourning was officially recognized by the Canadian government in 1991, eight years after the day of remembrance was launched by the Canadian Labour Congress. Since then, it has spread to more than 100 countries worldwide.
