Biweekly green cart collection begins November 4

As cooler weather sets in, the City of Lethbridge is reminding residents to reduce the rollout of their green carts until springtime.

Starting the week of November 4, residents who have a curbside green cart can expect to see it collected on a biweekly basis. The seasonal approach to organics collection helps manage higher volumes of yard waste and reduce odours during warmer months.

Stay updated on collection days and other City services by downloading the free Lethbridge Loop app. Get notifications for curbside cart pickups and alerts about compost giveaways and hazardous waste round-ups. You can also confirm your collection schedule by contacting 311 during business hours.

Diversion data shows that more than 18 million kgs of organic waste has been diverted from the landfill since the green cart program began in 2023. This averages to approximately 527 kgs per household.

The Fall Leaf Collection Program is available to help residents dispose of bagged leaves. Collections can be booked until November 7. Learn more at lethbridge.ca/FallLeafCollection
