Boxing Day garage fire under investigation

Around 9:50 a.m. on Friday, December 26, crews from four fire stations responded to a house fire on 10 Street North. A bystander had spotted a fire inside a garage and saw an injured man on the ground.

When firefighters arrived, they found two small fires in the garage and put them out quickly. An elderly man had suffered serious burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The garage itself received only minor damage. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
