Calling all reduce, reuse & recycle rockstars!

The City of Lethbridge invites the community to ‘trash’ their wasteful habits and take part in Waste Reduction Week!

As part of Circular Economy Month, the City’s Waste & Environment department has organized a series of events to highlight ways we can all reduce our waste:

  • Monster (Trash) Mash, Saturday, October 14Come out to the Waste & Recycling Centre for a spooktacular free, family event! Learn about how the landfill works, how compost is made, see where your recycling goes, entertainment for all ages plus a free BBQ.

  • Textile Tuesday, October 17 – Drop off your unwanted winter clothes at City Hall. All clothing will be donated to Streets Alive and the Blood Tribe Department of Health. Items needed include; coats, gloves, toques, hand warmers, socks, and weather-appropriate shoes/boots.

  • E-Waste Wednesday, October 18 – Drop off your electronic waste at the ENMAX Centre’s east parking lot from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Stamp out single-use plastic Thursday, October 19 – Follow the City’s Facebook page for your chance to win a reusable prize pack by telling us how you reduce using single-use plastic.

  • Food Waste Friday, October 20 – Clean out your fridge and pantry of expired items and put them in your green cart. Take the Food Waste Pledge and commit to making choices that will keep your food from becoming waste. You can take the pledge as an individual, school, business/organization, household, or community and learn how to reduce your household food waste.
