City expands electric vehicle charging network
A pair of new electric vehicle (EV) chargers are powered up and ready to plug in.
The City of Lethbridge, through the Electric Vehicle Charging Program, has installed two EV charging stations at Helen Schuler Nature Centre. This initiative supports the growing adoption of EVs and ensures the city remains accessible and welcoming for drivers.

“Expanding our EV infrastructure is a strategic investment that supports long-term transportation, environmental and economic objectives,” says Mark Svenson, Environmental Manager. “A well-distributed charging network gives residents and visitors more options for getting around and exploring Lethbridge.”
The new FLO level 2 chargers, offering 19.2 kW delivery, are at the north end of the parking lot at the Nature Centre. They are available during the facility’s regular operational hours.
“From an environmental perspective, broader EV infrastructure means fewer greenhouse gas emissions by enabling a shift away from gas-powered vehicles,” says Svenson. “This aligns with the City’s climate and sustainability goals while supporting provincial and federal policy direction.”
Including the new duo, there are 26 level 2 chargers throughout the city:
- Downtown Park ‘n Ride Transit Terminal (10)
- VisitLethbridge.com Arena (6)
- City Hall (4)
- Cavendish Farms Centre (4)
There are also two FLO DC fast chargers, offering 100 kW delivery, at Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Program is delivered by Alberta Municipalities with funding from Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
