Sports fields closures? There’s a new webpage for that!

Sometimes, Mother Nature decides sports shall not be played outdoors. But sometimes, it can be hard to know when she’s actually forced fields to close. Well, wonder no more!

The City of Lethbridge has launched a Sports Field closures webpage . Every weekday by 2:30 p.m., the page will show whether City fields are open or closed. The decision applies to all fields at once - they’re either all open or all closed. Closures occur when Parks staff determine weather conditions make play unsafe and risk damaging the fields.

The new webpage replaces the current Rainout Line at 403-320-4794. That phone number will remain active for a few weeks, with a prerecorded message directing callers to the webpage.

Updates can also be found using the City’s new 311 chatbot. The new, 24/7 digital assistant provides quick answers to frequently asked questions about City programs and services.
