    It’s time to ride the wave of new water meter technology!

    The City of Lethbridge has launched the three-year Water Meter Upgrade Program to replace outdated meters in approximately 10,000 households. The new meters are designed to enhance efficiency in several ways.

    Community asked for feedback on water conservations efforts

    The City of Lethbridge is asking residents to pour their thoughts into the Water Conservation Plan Survey.

    The survey, running from January 23 – February 7, is collecting feedback on current water conservation efforts, ways to improve conservation and potential incentives the City may consider implementing.

    New incentives for Downtown, fine adjustments for paid parking areas starting February 1

    If you are compliant with the Traffic Bylaw and parking regulations, the coming changes will not impact you. These changes to the Traffic Bylaw were created in direct consultation with representatives of the Downtown Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ), the Heart of Our City Committee (HOCC) and several business owners, then approved by Lethbridge City Council. The engagement group, which met throughout 2023, also included City staff from Transportation, Infrastructure Services and Communications and Engagement.

    Today, Lethbridge City Council voted 7-2 in favour of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lethbridge & District Exhibition (LDE). Subject to the Government of Alberta approving the proposed MOU, the agreement will create an interim governance structure comprised of City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County administration.

    City Council approves proactive measures to address low water levels

    City Council has unanimously passed a resolution to continue proactive steps in addressing water supply concerns and implementing strategic solutions to combat water scarcity. The action is in response to persistent drought conditions in southern Alberta, resulting in below-normal levels in every reservoir.

    The recent extreme cold weather may have put a freeze on the regular routines of residents, but it certainly turned up the heat on several City of Lethbridge crews.
