July 10 is Environment Blitz Day!

The City of Lethbridge’s Parks & Cemeteries and Waste & Environment teams are excited to host and celebrate Environment Blitz Day. This fun and free event happens at Nicholas Sheran Park on Thursday, July 10, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Residents of all ages are invited to learn about local environmental programs and discover simple ways to help keep our city clean and green.

Here’s a snapshot of the activities Environment Blitz Day has to offer:

  • Learn about the Yellow Fish Road Program and how you can play a role in protecting our waterways. Participate by painting a yellow fish near storm drains, as a reminder to clear them of debris/pollutants and protect our freshwater.
  • Explore fun and easy ways to reduce waste at home.
  • Join the Adopt-A-Park Program and take part in a litter cleanup in the park. Cleanup supplies will be provided.
  • Go with the flow and learn about water conservation and the Environmental Incentive Program
  • Put on your thinking caps for a family-friendly scavenger hunt.
  • Plant a tree in Rotary Brook Park, behind Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre, from 5 to 7 p.m. Trees, shovels and gloves will be provided.
  • Nominate an unsung local hero as a Mighty Neighbour.
  • Earn Verdant Quest badges. You can pick one of three challenges to complete at this event.

The opportunities are endless! Join us for an afternoon filled with education and activities for the whole family. Meet at the tent on the east side of the park, near the school.
