Estimate Your Property Taxes

Disclaimer: This calculator is for information purposes only. 2024 tax rates are not available until May.

The estimate does not include local improvement levies, penalties, outstanding tax debt, and any other municipal charges applied to the tax account. The City of Lethbridge is not liable for damages or losses that may result from the use of this information.

To verify the actual Total Tax levy, please contact the Assessment and Taxation Department at 311 or 403-320-3111 (if outside Lethbridge)

Your property taxes can be estimated by multiplying the property assessment value by the tax rate approved in May. The approved tax rates are calculated using the requested budget amounts divided by the total taxable assessment value in the municipality.

Enter the property assessment value from your last assessment notice. If you don't know the assessed value of the property, use the purchase price as an estimate. Please note your municipal assessment may differ from the purchase price of the property.

*Your 2023 Property Tax bill will be mailed by the end of May 2023 and may include other factors specific to your account that could change the total amount due.

Current Tax Rates

A tax rate is the rate of taxation applied against the assessed value of property within a municipality to collect the revenue required by the various taxation authorities.

Normally, the tax rate is expressed in mills (dollars in tax paid per thousand dollars of assessed property value) or sometimes as a percentage of the property's assessed value. For example, a tax rate of 1.5% on a home valued at $100,000 would require the payment of $1,500 in annual property taxes.
