Commuters in Lethbridge will notice some new traffic calming features this spring. Traffic calming curbs and digital speed feedback signs have been installed on selected roadways throughout the city to help reduce driving speeds.
Two speed feedback signs will be installed on Whoop-Up Drive on Friday, May 23, 2025. Commuters can expect partial lane closures.
As the weather heats up, road construction season follows suit.
The City of Lethbridge’s Transportation Operations department has been completing minor road repairs since mid-April. With outdoor temperatures warming up, those efforts are moving into high gear.
Repairs to a pedestrian ramp will impact motorists and pedestrians on University Drive West.
The ramp, at the southeast corner of University Drive and Heritage Boulevard West, will be closed. All pedestrian traffic will be routed back one block, to Heritage Crescent West.
Starting today, April 29, there will be a series of partial and full road closures on 6 Street South, between 5 Avenue and 4 Avenue, to allow for the addition of new on-street parking stalls.
Nighttime construction will take place on Highway 3 in Lethbridge from April 17 to July 31, led by Ledcor Highways Ltd. on behalf of Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. This is a Provincial highway project managed by the Province of Alberta, not the City of Lethbridge.
