The City of Lethbridge, working together with Lethbridge Family Services, is making sure our newest neighbours feel right at home. The newcomer program initiative is all about helping new residents get to know their new community.
It probably comes as no surprise that limited precipitation in 2023 has led to lower than typical water reserves across southern Alberta. The City of Lethbridge is carefully monitoring and taking proactive steps to ensure a sustained water supply for the region.
As the summer days wind down and autumn officially begins this weekend, Canada continues to experience its worst wildfire season ever recorded. Thankfully, our region has not had to contend with any major issues in 2023 – but several City of Lethbridge staff members have been training and preparing should a worst-case scenario reach our community.
Away from the heat of leading the City’s Fire and Emergency Services department, Fire Chief Greg Adair can be found digging, planting and watering his way to a greener future at home.
Lethbridge was incorporated as a town in 1890 and as a city in 1906, which for a municipality is relatively young by comparison to many areas of the world. Despite our overall youth as a city, we do have an array of historic places. Those protected by the City of Lethbridge are called Municipal Historic Resources. Through preservation efforts, we currently have 29 Municipal Historic Resources, with 13 of them located in Downtown Lethbridge. Starting today, ahead of Heritage Day on Monday, August 7, and running throughout the next year, we will feature a series of posts every second Friday to showcase each of these resources.
When Lethbridge City Council meetings resume in September, those attending and watching online will see and hear some positive differences. Beginning today and set to be completed before the first meeting back in mid-September, several technological upgrades will be taking place in Chamber
