Community Safety Strategy Committee
The Community Safety Strategy Committee (CSSC) is an administrative committee that continues the work of the Downtown Lawlessness Reduction Task Force (DLRTF) and supports City of Lethbridge administration in advancing community safety.
The committee focuses on reducing social disorder and crime through four key pillars:
Education
Increase awareness, understand, accountability and action.
Intervention
Proactively encourage safety and reduce harmful behaviours.
Prevention
Respond to existing harmful behaviours.
Enforcement
Respond to criminal activity and minimize the effects of crime.
The CSSC priority is providing input, advice and recommendations to support the update and implementation of the Community/Downtown Clean and Safe Strategy.
As of July 14, 2026, Lethbridge City Council approved and adopted the Community Safety Action Plan as a guiding framework to inform the coordination, implementation and evaluation of community safety initiatives.

The CSSC will ensure consideration of the previous work completed by the Downtown Lawlessness Reduction Task Force (DLRTF), including the 2024 DLRTF Recommendations Report.
