    Residential Speed Limit Pilot Project

    The City of Lethbridge is introducing a pilot project to lower speed limits to 40 km/h in select neighbourhoods. Starting September 15, Paradise Canyons/The Canyons will be the first subdivision to begin the multi-year pilot project.

    There will be rotating lane closures in the eastbound lanes on Whoop-Up Drive Sunday, August 27, to allow crews to complete pavement line marking work.

    The westbound inside lane of traffic will be closed on Whoop Up Drive, under the Scenic Drive overpass, on Thursday, August 24 to allow crews to complete guardrail maintenance.

    Partial Road Closure 400 Block of Stafford Drive North

    Effective immediately, the southbound lanes of Stafford Drive North will be closed between 4 Avenue North and 5 Avenue North so crews can complete an emergency sewer main repair.

    Temporary traffic signal changes at 4 Avenue & 7 Street South

    Starting Monday, August 21, the traffic signals will be temporarily removed at 4 Avenue and 7 Street South and the intersection will temporarily be converted to an all-way stop to facilitate construction.

    Two westbound lanes of traffic will be closed on Whoop Up Drive on Sunday, August 20 to allow crews to complete guardrail maintenance.

    Expanded Heat Warning now in place

    Alberta Health has elevated the current Heat Warning to an Expanded Heat Warning for the city of Lethbridge. This elevated warning is now active due to special air quality statements because of the wildfire smoke.

    Residents and businesses asked to conserve water

    With extended dry, hot weather and several southern Alberta water basins experiencing shortages, the City of Lethbridge is asking everyone to do their part in conserving water. Voluntary action now will help prevent the need for mandatory restrictions in the coming days and weeks.
