​Curbside organics is ready to roll as green carts have begun arriving at the City's Public Operations site.

The City of Lethbridge is pressing play on a new way for residents to learn about the curbside organic program which rolls out next month.

​Due to an extraordinary response in the first week, the Lethbridge Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) is currently at full capacity for year one of the four-year program.

​Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services continue to investigate two downtown commercial building fires.

​Recently there's been an increase in the number of needles found in blue recycling carts by staff at the Waste and Recycling Centre.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services crews responded from four stations with 28 members to a structure fire in the 200 block of 5 Street South. Upon arrival, the vacant building was showing visible flames from the upper levels and crews quickly worked to extinguish the blaze.

In preparation for Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG 911), the Lethbridge Public Safety Communications Centre is upgrading their phone system to move to a computer-based, softphone solution.  This transition will take place on January 31 beginning at 9 a.m. and should be completed by 12 p.m.  

​Following recommendations from the City's Transportation Safety Master Plan, the City of Lethbridge is exploring the option of harmonizing speed limits in both playground and school zones. Through this process, community feedback is being collected to help inform City Council's decision.
