    Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire in the backyard of a home in the 1300 block of 14 Avenue South at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

    The reopening of Fritz Sick Pool has been delayed due to unforeseen issues with the pool basin.

    One lane of Whoop-Up Drive will be closed for parts of April 8 and 9. The closure is required to remove heavy machinery following the successful University Siphon repair.

    The City of Lethbridge’s Waste and Environment department is reminding residents to keep batteries out of the waste collection carts following two recent incidents.

  • Fairmont Pond Bank Rehabilitation

    Work is underway to revive banks along the east lobe of Fairmont Pond.

    The area has been hit by several floods over the years. The ensuing erosion has worn away significant amounts of the banks on the north and south sides of the pond.

  • Fire crews prevent major damage in suspicious weekend structure fire

    Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire at a multi-unit building on the 600 block of 3 Avenue South just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 29. 

    Firefighters from four stations were dispatched. Crews arrived to find flames visible on a second-floor balcony. Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire before it could spread throughout the structure. 

  • Water repair impacting Fairmont Boulevard South

    A water service repair has closed the 100 block of Fairmont Boulevard South.

  • Watermain upgrade to close portion of 20 Street South for six weeks

    A temporary road closure of 20 Street South from 22 Avenue to the Scenic Drive Service Road is set to begin today. This work is anticipated to take about six weeks and is to be complete by mid-May, weather permitting.

  • Repairs to cause temporary road closure at Festival Square

    A temporary road closure of 6 Street South between 3 Avenue and the laneway near Festival Square is set to begin on Monday, March 31. This contractor warranty repair work involves replacing damaged concrete panels in the roadway. As the concrete will take about a week to cure to the required strength before the road can be reopened, this work is anticipated to be complete by Monday, April 14, weather permitting.
